The family business has maintained a reputation for high quality timber windows and doors since 1924 and still retains the family name and standards, headed by Karel Hon and his brother Josef. Their products are respected throughout Europe and Hon have successfully supplied no less than 80 projects in the USA, all manufactured in the same modern factory in Opava, Czech Republic.
The company was established 1924 by Jan Hon who started a small joinery operation in the northeastern part of what was Czechoslovakia. The family tradition continued with his son Jan, who kept the tradition alive through really tough times.
The communist régime didn't allow private businesses, so he started to operate on volunteer basis with his two sons helping him along. Immediately after the long awaited fall of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia in 1989 he applied for a business license and started a new era for the company.
Soon after, his son Josef joined the business and after Mr. Jan Hon's death in 1996 his other son Karel joined the company and the brothers keep the family tradition alive.
Today the factory combines modern technology with traditional hand craftsmanship that has been passed down through numerous generations and all windows and doors are available in both timber and Aluminium clad timber. All are triple glazed and the 93mm systems are suitable for passive house construction.
